What To Look For:

• A well-established roofing contractor with a permanent place of business and a telephone number

• Tax ID Number

• Proof of Workers’ Compensation Insurance

• General Liability Insurance

• A local Business License

• Experience and knowledge, familiar with all types of roofs and different products

• Commitment to quality and safety

• Ask for and get a written proposal; it should list specifically the work to be performed and list the materials included.

• Permit included; red flag a contractor that requires the property owner to pull the permit.

• Check with Better Business Bureau and the State Contractors Licensing Board

• Ask for three Client References

• Ask for their Supplier Credit Reference

• Ask if they have operated under an different Name or License number

• Never pay more than 10% of total contract price in advance!
